This is a full update and second edition of the Color Cube Volume 1 and 2. The boxes themselves are getting an update, and the palette cards have been reviewed and recategorized for a better experience.
Out of the original 500 palettes from the First Edition, 100 have been retired.
Alongside the new Volumes 1 and 2, the introduction of Volumes 3 and 4 gives more opportunities for better categories and variety, so any box has a huge range of colour choices on its own, without needing all 4.
There are a lot of other updates still to be announced, so it may be best to wait for the full launch before making a decision on which Color Cube is best for you.
Here’s the full breakdown of the changes to the palette cards:
Volume 1 (2nd Edition) keeps 160 from 1st Edition. I’ve moved 25 from Volume 2 (1st Ed.) and created 65 new palettes.
Volume 2 (2nd Edition) keeps 124 from 1st Edition. I’ve moved 15 from Volume 1 (1st Ed.) and created 111 new palettes.
Volume 3 (2nd Edition) includes 187 new palettes, plus 17 from Volume 1 (1st Ed.) and 46 from Volume 2 (1st Ed.).
Volume 4 (2nd Edition) includes 219 new palettes, plus 13 from Volume 1 (1st Ed.) and 18 from Volume 2 (1st Ed.).

Such an innovative product! And the quality is over the top. I have all 4 volumes and love them. I’m not a professional by any stretch, but have been taking watercolor lessons for a few years now and the color cubes are such a big help when wondering what colors to use in my projects. My 4th box was missing the little number that goes on the outside of the box. When I contacted Sarah and her team, they answered quickly and said that they would get that sticker out to me. So helpful! Highly recommend.

These cubes are very good quality. The colors are beautiful. The cubes are difficult to pick up. I need two hands to grab them which makes it hard to just grab off the shelf when needed. I also find the number of cards to be overwhelming. The topical organization means some color pallets are very similar, but perhaps as I use them more I will appreciate the ideas that can be generated from the variations and photo examples.

have the originals and they were great, but it was kinda luck of the draw when trying to find something specific. These are a great upgrade with the better designed box and tabs with images for each section. Do you need all four? probably not, but you will want them all :) The only down side is you can’t get the categories on their own – i.e. build your own box by selecting the categories most useful to you instead of having to get multiple boxes. Over all, the price is fair given the quality of the product and the amount of attention to detail.

I purchased the First Edition of these about a year ago and I won’t lie. I was a bit bummed that an entirely new line was dropping. BUT, I will say that I am genuinely pleased with this new set! It is worth every penny. I absolutely love the box remake and the addition of the categories. It makes it so much easier to get started. Also, the two new cubes are amazing! I love the new palettes so much. I can’t wait to see what new palettes we will get in the future. I can already see new categories forming. Very high quality product that exceeds expectations and will be a great resource to any artist thinking about purchasing. Money well-spent.

I had thought about buying your first color cubes, but thought I could manage my own palettes….I had worked out a handful. Then I saw your video showing just how much work you had put into the 2nd version! Wow! So impressive! Immediately I thought, I have to support this! And now having looked at each and every card of the volume 1-4 set I am still impressed. I have am loving the look of the cubes themselves. The packaging was awesome. I love the little folded packets the tab cards came in, planning on using them for carrying drawing paper for on the go. I’ve only had the cubes for a week or so now and have already put them to use on a couple of projects I’ve started. Thank you for this awesome product. I really love this cube! Definitely going to get the others. I’ve wanted them forever but when I saw these with the tabs I decided to go for it. I love it even more than I thought I would. Great for inspiration! I’ve kind of felt creatively blocked lately and this has got me drawing a lot more. Attached my first drawing based from a card. A just for fun practice drawing.

I have ordered volume 1 and 2 and the quality is phenomenal. The cards are thick and have a nice feeling, the box is really well made, the dividers are very useful. I also ordered from Canada and the shipping was faster than I thought and easy to track. I just wish we had a bit more diversity in the kind of pictures for examples there is a lot of cloudy skies, but the kind of clouds are very similar. I understand the emphasis is on colors and not really on different reference pictures to draw from, so it’s fine.
