This is a full update and second edition of the Color Cube Volume 1 and 2. The boxes themselves are getting an update, and the palette cards have been reviewed and recategorized for a better experience.
Out of the original 500 palettes from the First Edition, 100 have been retired.
Alongside the new Volumes 1 and 2, the introduction of Volumes 3 and 4 gives more opportunities for better categories and variety, so any box has a huge range of colour choices on its own, without needing all 4.
There are a lot of other updates still to be announced, so it may be best to wait for the full launch before making a decision on which Color Cube is best for you.
Here’s the full breakdown of the changes to the palette cards:
Volume 1 (2nd Edition) keeps 160 from 1st Edition. I’ve moved 25 from Volume 2 (1st Ed.) and created 65 new palettes.
Volume 2 (2nd Edition) keeps 124 from 1st Edition. I’ve moved 15 from Volume 1 (1st Ed.) and created 111 new palettes.
Volume 3 (2nd Edition) includes 187 new palettes, plus 17 from Volume 1 (1st Ed.) and 46 from Volume 2 (1st Ed.).
Volume 4 (2nd Edition) includes 219 new palettes, plus 13 from Volume 1 (1st Ed.) and 18 from Volume 2 (1st Ed.).

So far, a well thought-out improvement. Images are very nice, the cardstock is good quality, the box design is better, and the tabbed cards are also welcome. The colors added in Cubes 3 and 4 are a great addition. I’m awaiting the release of the online companion, so can’t comment on that, and I’m hoping that there will be some sort of (simple) downloadable PDF of the cards for offline use.

Was super excited waiting for them to arrive and they didn’t disappoint they are excellent. Even my daughters who aren’t crafty at all are finding uses to use them too. Colour schemes for their homes. So well worth investing investing in a set and can’t wait for the digital version to go live.

Love this! It helps me pick colours for my projects and takes away the stress of finding colours (and the tones) that work together. I also drop or add colours using similar cards in same theme or colour family. Everything I have made using these cards has worked, and I mean everything. If you’re not good at picking colours or even just stumped and need some inspiration, I highly recommend this tool!!

These cards are SO much easier to use than any version of the color wheel that I’ve had — and I’ve had several.

These are amazing and absolutely worth it. So satisfying just to look at! But then extremely helpful with my painting and finding the right colors. I bought volumes 3 & 4, since I was particularly interested in the retro and fantasy sections. They did not disappoint! I do have my eye on volumes 1 &2 now tho… or at least investing in the digital purchase.

I purchased these for my wife who just loves your YouTube videos and just had to have these to enhance her own projects. She was very happy when she opened the box and saw what it was. The very next day she was in one of the boxes and so excited because it had given her the perfect color palate for multimedia collage she was working on, and I have to say the finished product was awesome. She is in love with these helpful cards and she is just getting started. Thanks for making this great product available and for a reasonable price as well. The joy it is bringing her is well worth the cost.
